Elkhorn Area High School
Manufacturing Career Panel
SKILLS GAP—by now many of you have heard this term mentioned in the media, by our governor and legislators, at your place of work or school, in conversation with friends, relatives, etc. But, as is customary for most major problems, it seems like we always have lots of talk but no action!
Precision Plus and Elkhorn Area High School are working to put words into action. On Wednesday, February 27, Precision Plus and Elkhorn Area High School have teamed together to invite a panel of professional manufacturing reps from our state and neighboring states to address the questions and concerns parents and students may have about careers in manufacturing. Discussion among and between panel experts and the audience will address the critical labor and skills shortage in manufacturing, manufacturers’ role in improving education and the workforce, types of careers available in manufacturing, skills necessary for specific manufacturing jobs, types of training available to students interested, training programs that could be offered out of the high school (apprenticeships, internships, work-study programs). Videos will show the modern, up-to-date production facilities that many manufacturing companies run today along with the immense variety of products being turned out.
Please mark this date, time, and place on your calendars for this informative, valuable career event:
Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 1-2:30 p.m., the Wehner Auditorium at Elkhorn Area High School.
The panel will also be repeated in the evening of Wednesday, February 27 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Wehner Auditorium at Elkhorn Area High School, pending parent interest.
